Free ePrescribing for Vermont Prescribers
VITL and its stakeholders have collaborated to launch ePrescribe Vermont, a statewide initiative to help Vermont physicians and other prescribers adopt and use electronic prescribing technology. This short video describes how Vermont prescribers and their patients are benefitting from eprescribing.
ePrescribe Vermont is offering Vermont health care providers free use of a web-based electronic prescribing application, powered by Allscripts. Email and telephone support and onsite training are free as well. The application is accessible via the Apple iPad, iPhone, and other web-enabled smartphones.
It provides access to medication history and formulary data, and also performs drug interaction checks. There is no software to install or download, and the system can be accessed from any location at any time. All that is needed is a computer or smartphone, Internet access, and a secure web browser.
Please contact Steve Larose at 802-839-1945 or email slarose@vitl.net to receive further information on how to register for and use the web-based eprescribing application. If you have already started using the eprescribing application and need technical assistance from Allscripts, call (877) 933-7274.
Get a Bonus for ePrescribing, Avoid a Medicare Payment Reduction
A major goal of ePrescribe Vermont is to help Vermont prescribers qualify for an electronic prescribing incentive payment from the Medicare program. In 2011 and 2012, the incentive payment is 1% of Medicare Part B claims. In 2013 it will be 0.5%. Likewise, using electronic prescribing through ePrescribe Vermont can mitigate a 1% Medicare penalty in 2012, which increases to 1.5% in 2013 and 2% in 2014.
